It’s Time

I have gone back and forth on this for a while, but it is time for AGirl to step to the back burner.

Nothing is wrong at all. My life is probably the happiest and most peaceful that it has ever been. I am truly bouncing off the walls most day because things are all kind of in place for us, but I have much run out of things to say. I know for someone who has shared so much over the past two years, who would believe that one day she would be quiet…

I intended to just go quietly into the sunset, but two things kept me from doing so.

One- I remember reading on Robb Allen’s page one time that he was annoyed when bloggers just faded away without any explanation or good-bye. Everyone has been so great, that I didn’t want to do that on the off chance someone might care.

The other is that I am not disappearing, but lately I just haven’t had time to read a lot of blogs and I am feeling guilty about that, so I wanted to say, I will for sure be popping in to keeps tab, but probably not as often, so if I miss a birthday, an illness, a death, or other major life event good or bad, please don’t  think it’s that I do not care, because I do. I just am at a point where I have to pay more attention to the 4 people I agreed to parent and try to turn into responsible human beings. They make it pretty easy, but still it’s a lot of work. I am no where near as talented as the rest of you and doing it all just isn’t in my ability.

I spoke with Barron and we are going to keep the blog up. Leaves it open for whatever.

These past 2 years have been a blast. I adore you all and can not thank you enough for all you have given me. I hope that I have been clear on that. I pray that I was able to give a little bit back.

With much love and gratitude, AGirl

  1. I totally understand, life is crazy busy. I want to say a huge thank you AGirl for all I have learned from you in such a short time. When I started out on this journey to learn all I could about guns I was blessed enough to run across your blog. I will always be truly grateful that you took your painful situation and turned it to triumph to help others. :). Because of you and your wanting to help others I won the AGirl contest and this coming weekend get to go to an amazing 2 day defensive handgun class with Kathy Jackson. Then in July I am set up to have a lesson with George Lyons And the list just goes on. Thank you!

  2. A Girl,

All I can say is to wish you and yours all the very Best. You have without a doubt been a real blessing to the folks on here.

  3. Fully understand – life is full, busy, hectic . . . . but, as always, I might offer an option?

Perhaps AGirl can offer you some refuge from time-to-time from life. I realize that for a number of years you used this persona to grow, understand, cope – and in so doing you offered so many others exactly what they were looking for.

Now, perhaps we can offer refuge via AGirl when your life swallows a bit too much of you. We’re your friends. Please, come visit once in awhile.

Regardless, enjoy Shelby. You have a great family, awesome hubby and a number of new adventures beginning. Have fun!

  4. Thanks for the heads up Shelby. Please stay in touch and if y’all need anything let me know! Take care, stay safe!

  5. Dang it! I just got here! Just kidding, you don’t owe me, or anyone here anything. I’m sure you will be missed (that’s a good thing!) So go do your thing. God bless you!

  6. And we adore you AGirl. We’ll miss you but I understand completely. This stuff can eat up a lot of time and energy sometimes best spent other places. I think keeping the blog up is a good idea. It’ll give you somewhere to post something if it ever comes up. I’m going to keep you linked just in case (no pressure).

Lu, Angus and I wish you guys all the best. Keep in touch, I’m only an e-mail away.

  7. We will all miss you and your words of wisdom. You have grown so much and used that growth to help so many others as witnessed in these comments. I am glad you will leave this blog up and hope to hear from you from time to time. As to the reference to the rest of us, there is more in your little finger than will ever be in most of us. Keep in touch! – tc

  8. But, but, but…We still haven’t met up yet! We haven’t shot together yet!

I know that you’re backing away from the blog for a bit, but stay in touch, ok? And we will be doing a blogshoot here later this year. If you don’t come for it, we’ll all come for you.

  9. I read your blog regularly. Only commented a couple of times. I’m glad you posted what you did. Take care of yourself and your family

  10. Totally understand! Thanks for keeping the blog open, I’ll keep it bookmarked and check back on a fairly regular (ie: daily) basis in case you wander back in and post. And if you’re ever in the DFW area, EMAIL US!!!!

  11. You’ll be missed… but you always know where to find me (us)… and we’ve got your back when you need it…

  12. I have wondered for a long time how you did it all. I will miss reading about all you do.
    Please keep in touch.

  14. I sort of thought this was coming. I understand about busy!
Thank You so very much for pouring yourself into this blog. You have helped so many people in amazing ways.
Now that this season is complete, you can go and do other wonderful things.

  15. I haven’t been here long, but can’t thank you enough for all your wonderful input. Wishing you and your family only the Best.

  16. I’ve been slowing down blog posting/reading quite a bit lately as you know.
You can’t spend too much of your life with your face buried in a computer screen.

Don’t feel like you can’t come back now and again with a post. The blog will be here.

If you guys get down this way, you know how to get in touch.

  17. Just because I understand doesn’t mean I have to like it. I am keeping you in my feed reader in hopes that you’ll surprise me now and then.
Real life absolutely comes first, but don’t be a stranger. Keep in touch, alright?

  18. For someone who doesn’t have much to say you sure let loose on the third and fourth. but ya gotta do what ya gotta do., I’ll still stop by now and again to check to see if anything new is up. Take good care of yourself and family.

  19. My dearest AGirl
DRJ and I will miss your posts. Family comes first by all means. Please be sure to take some time to yourself. It is the healthy thing to do. DRJ and I love you and yours . Hope to hear from you in the near future.

  20. AGirl, like Jennifer, I can understand it yet still not like it. You will be missed.
I have very much enjoyed your posts. Your positive angle, honesty, and humor on every topic always made me say, “Yeah!”.
However, your writing was a great source of encouragement, enlightenment, and strength for “L”. You touched her deeply and helped her grow. For that, I cannot thank you enough.
We WILL keep in touch. Love to you, TSM, and all the kiddos.

  21. I know how you feel. I’m glad that you are keeping the blog open. I’m all about options and this leaves you the option of popping back in when you have something you want to write about. Good for you with focusing on the family. I hope to hear from you here soon.

  22. Thank you for all the posts to date, and let us know how you are and what’s new whenever you can.
It has been a real pleasure to get to know you ,and read about your trials and successes.Good luck!!

  23. We do what we have to do and sometimes that means moving on. You have my email and if you ever get out this way please let me know.

We would love to take you and your husband out for dinner and maybe a trip to the range 😀

  24. You have done much good here, building courage and thought and hope for people that just sat back and said “I wonder. . .” or “could I?

I could not do what you do, with a large family and maintain a blog. How you’ve kept the quality top rate with all of that is beyond the scope of most of us.

You’ve got the email and the phone, if you need anything, if only a shoulder or a prayer, please use them.

You will be missed, but we are not goign anywhere.

  25. Good luck with everything!

May the road ahead be smooth enough to walk, but bumpy enough to be interesting. Thanks for everything you’ve done here.

  26. Believe it or not, I found this blog on the day you said goodbye. Didn’t stop me from going back and reading every post, which is a great reason for you to leave it up. You have inspired me to get serious about my gun life and get some training. I understand why, but am also sad to see you go and I will check back often (daily) for posts.
    Good Luck!
